The luxury of change or the luxury of making mistakes

“There is only one luxury in life: the ability to make mistakes.” – Jacques Brel

“Joy resides in risking something new.” – Denis Diderot

Who hasn’t dreamed of changing their life, dropping everything and hopping a plane to a foreign destination? Without going that far, we North Americans have the ability to make major changes and reinvent ourselves. Isn’t that the ultimate luxury: to transcend our fears and dare to branch out, explore and experience new things? Or maybe the definitive luxury is the right to be wrong…

These days, I’m finding the risks of change invigorating. We opened an office in Toronto a few months ago and, without wanting to totally change my professional life, I am thinking seriously about who we are. What type of agency is NATA PR? How is it different from other public relations agencies? How should we describe our evolving media relations services so that new clients can grasp our essence, who we’ve been for the last fifteen years?

In a few weeks, our new image will be integrated into our website along with a new platform that’s being designed as I write. I already have butterflies in my stomach at the thought of posting this new “us”, because I know that this change in my professional life will also impact my personal life. After 15 years at the helm of NATA PR, I know that everything – work and personal life – is interconnected… but nothing is more stimulating than change.

Tell us what you think about ours.
